The main reason for the decision is the continued difficult situation in the international financial markets and the considerable uncertainty it has created. Both banks attach importance to the fact that it was possible to reach broad agreement on the salient points of the merger. The banks’ statutory auditors also confirmed that the accounts of the two companies accurately reflect the respective risks.
